Electronics Design Engineer
Rise Search Limited
We are working with a specialist engineering design and manufacturing business solving complex, often legacy or obsolete engineering challenges for customers across aerospace, defence, rail, industrial and other high-reliability sectors. They are now looking to add an Electronics Design Engineer to the team.
This is a broad role rather than a narrow PCB design position. You will cover schematic capture, component selection, circuit and system-level design, plus reverse engineering and obsolescence work on legacy equipment with feasibility input on new customer enquiries too, alongside an experienced, multidisciplinary team.
Your responsibilities as an Electronics Design Engineer:
- PCB layout, schematic capture and component selection across varied design projects.
- Identify suitable alternative or replacement components for technical fit, availability and lifecycle.
- Support analogue and digital circuit design and system-level integration.
- Assist with technical feasibility work and reverse engineering of legacy or obsolete equipment.
- Prototype bring-up, testing, debugging and fault finding.
- Maintain BOMs, design records and supporting engineering documentation.
- Good grounding in electronics via a degree, apprenticeship, HNC/HND route or hands-on experience.
- Practical experience of PCB design, schematic capture and component selection.
- Understanding of analogue and digital electronics, with confidence fault finding using test equipment.
- Comfortable working across varied projects rather than one narrow specialism.
- Curious and methodical, willing to learn from experienced engineers.
- RF electronics, signal integrity or systems design experience an advantage, though not essential.
- Salary of £35,000 - £43,000, DOE
- Full-time, permanent role
- 33 days holiday including Bank Holidays
- NEST pension scheme
