Electronics Engineer

An established technology organisation is looking for an experienced Electronics Engineer to join its hardware development team in Bristol. The organisation develops technology designed to improve independence, accessibility and quality of life for people. This is an opportunity to work on products that have a meaningful real-world impact while being involved in the complete hardware development lifecycle.

You will play a hands-on role in designing, prototyping, testing and supporting electronic products from early concepts through to manufacture. The role combines circuit design, PCB development, embedded firmware, laboratory testing and cross-functional engineering.

We are looking for someone with strong practical electronics experience who enjoys solving complex technical problems and taking ownership of designs through to production.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design digital, analogue, mixed-signal and power electronics for embedded products, including DC-DC conversion and battery management.
  • Develop schematics and multi-layer PCB layouts using tools such as Altium Designer.
  • Develop and debug low-level embedded firmware for Nordic and STM32 platforms, including Zephyr RTOS.
  • Prototype, test and validate hardware and firmware, using laboratory equipment to diagnose and resolve faults.
  • Select components based on performance, cost, availability and lifecycle considerations, while managing BOMs and design changes.
  • Work closely with firmware, mechanical, product and manufacturing teams to take designs from concept through to production.
  • Support EMC, safety and regulatory compliance, including relevant standards such as IEC (phone number removed) and IEC (phone number removed)-2.
  • Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners to resolve technical and production issues.
  • Balance technical requirements with cost, reliability, manufacturability and commercial considerations.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and contribute to quality, compliance, continuous improvement and sustainability activities.
Essential Experience & Skills:
  • Degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience designing and developing electronic systems.
  • Strong knowledge of embedded hardware and interfaces such as USB, I²C, SPI, UART, GPIO and ADC/DAC.
  • Experience with power electronics, including DC-DC converters, SMPS or battery management.
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB design.
  • Embedded firmware development using C, C++ or Rust.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience with oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analysers and power supplies.
  • Experience taking electronic designs from prototype through to production.
  • Strong problem-solving, documentation and cross-functional communication skills.
