Electronics Engineer

Lynx Recruitment Ltd

Electronics Engineer – Consultant

Our client is a rapidly growing technology and engineering organisation based near Cambridge, working on innovative projects across advanced engineering, defence and homeland security.

Due to continued growth, they are looking for an Electronics Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team developing cutting-edge technology from initial concept through to prototype and delivery.

This is an opportunity to work on technically challenging projects with a genuine real-world impact, collaborating with experienced engineers, scientists and technical specialists.

The Role

As an Electronics Engineer, you will be involved across the full product development lifecycle, from requirements capture and initial concept development through to detailed design, testing, documentation and delivery.

Projects can range from early-stage proof-of-concept work through to fully functioning prototypes, providing a varied mix of technical and practical challenges.

You will work closely with other engineers and technical specialists to develop solutions to complex engineering problems and help turn innovative concepts into working technology.

About You

We are looking for an Electronics Engineer with a strong academic and technical background, ideally with a relevant degree and demonstrable experience designing and developing complex electronic systems.

Experience in several of the following areas would be beneficial:

  • Electronics hardware design and schematic capture, ideally using tools such as Altium
  • PCB layout, including signal integrity and stack-up considerations
  • Board bring-up, testing and technical documentation
  • Low-level communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, Ethernet or Modbus
  • FPGA firmware development, debugging and testing
  • DSP design and modelling
  • Signal processing and algorithm development
  • High-speed electronics design
  • RF/microwave electronics design and simulation
  • Embedded software development
  • Communications and networking protocols
  • System architecture, interfaces and hardware procurement

Experience with one or more of the following languages or tools would also be useful:

  • C / C++
  • C#
  • Python
  • MATLAB
  • Simulink

The role would suit an engineer who enjoys working on technically complex problems, is comfortable working across disciplines and wants to contribute to innovative R&D projects rather than focusing on a single, repetitive product.

Benefits include:

  • Annual performance/profit-related bonus
  • Employer pension contribution
  • Private medical insurance, including dependant cover
  • Life insurance
  • 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Enhanced parental leave
  • Electric vehicle leasing scheme

If you're an Electronics Engineer looking for a role where you can work across the full development lifecycle and contribute to genuinely innovative technology, I'd be keen to hear from you.
