An established and highly respected engineering business is seeking an experienced Electronics Engineer to join its innovative Research & Development team, supporting the design and development of cutting-edge laser technology used across scientific, industrial and research applications.

 

Working within the Research & Development team, you will design, develop and validate electronic systems with a particular focus on power electronics. You will support products throughout their full lifecycle, collaborating closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain and customers to deliver robust, high-quality engineering solutions.

This role offers the opportunity to work across the complete development process, from requirements capture and schematic design through to testing, validation and production support.

£45,000 - £60,000 + Bonus + Excellent Benefits

Electronics Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing and developing analogue and digital electronic systems with a focus on power electronics
  • Producing schematics, PCB layouts and wiring diagrams using ECAD software
  • Developing production test equipment and test rigs for manufactured products
  • Supporting product testing, validation and lifecycle improvements
  • Working closely with Manufacturing, Quality and Supply Chain teams to resolve technical issues
  • Supporting compliance with EMC regulations and relevant electrical safety standards
  • Producing technical documentation to support design, manufacture and validation
  • Supporting continuous improvement of existing products and future product developments
 

Electronics Engineer

Essential Experience / Skills / Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline
  • Minimum three years' experience in electronic hardware design
  • Strong experience using ECAD software for schematic capture and PCB layout
  • Broad knowledge of analogue and digital electronics
  • Experience with power electronics, power supplies, DC-DC converters or similar systems
  • Experience using oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers and signal generators for circuit analysis
  • Knowledge of communication protocols including CANbus, I²C, SPI and UART
  • Experience using SPICE or similar circuit simulation software
  • Basic soldering and electronic rework experience
  • Experience designing products to relevant international standards
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent project management and organisational abilities
  • Python or low-level C programming experience would be advantageous
