The Role
As an Electronics Manufacturing Engineering Lead, you will lead a small team of Electronics Manufacturing and Test Engineers/Technicians while taking ownership of the development and improvement of PCBA and product testing capability.
You will combine advanced electronics engineering expertise with a hands-on approach to troubleshooting, manufacturing support and continuous improvement. You will also lead projects introducing new products, processes and automated test equipment into manufacturing.
Working closely with Manufacturing, Quality, R&D, Manufacturing Engineering and external suppliers, you will be responsible for delivering robust production processes, test solutions and technical improvements.
Key Responsibilities
+Lead and develop a small team of Electronics Manufacturing and Test Engineers/Technicians.
+Provide technical leadership and support to Manufacturing, ensuring departmental objectives are achieved.
+Lead projects introducing new products, manufacturing processes and automated test equipment.
+Design, specify, develop, validate and document automated test and verification solutions.
+Develop data acquisition from key manufacturing and test equipment to support data-driven decision making and process improvements.
+Provide hands-on technical support, fault finding and repair of precision electronic PCB assemblies.
+Conduct structured problem solving and root cause analysis to diagnose manufacturing and electronics issues.
+Provide technical training and support to manufacturing and engineering teams where required.
About You
You will have significant experience within electronics design, electronics manufacturing engineering or a technical manufacturing environment, combined with experience leading people and technical projects.
This is a hands-on leadership role, so you should be comfortable working directly with PCB assemblies, manufacturing equipment and test systems while also managing priorities, developing team members and driving engineering projects forward.
Essential Skills & Experience
+HNC, HND or Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or a related technical/scientific discipline.
+Significant experience in an Electronics Design and/or Manufacturing Engineering role.
+Strong electronics design, measurement and diagnostic capability.
+Experience designing electronic circuits and PCB layouts using modern CAD packages.
+Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills, particularly with complex or high-sensitivity electronics.
+Experience leading technical projects and/or engineering teams.
+Ability to lead, develop and support engineers and technicians at different levels of experience.
The Opportunity
This is a senior hands-on engineering position offering the opportunity to take ownership of electronics manufacturing, PCBA testing, automation and continuous improvement, while leading a small technical team.
You will have significant involvement across the engineering and manufacturing lifecycle, from new product introduction and test development through to production support, troubleshooting and process optimisation.
