Role:
A leading Health and Safety Consultancy is seeking to appoint an Embedded Health and Safety Consultant to be deployed on a dedicated, long-term basis at the headquarters of one of London's most prominent corporate entities. This is a permanent position with the business, offering the stability of direct employment combined with the professional autonomy and strategic influence of a senior client-facing role.
The successful candidate will be integrated within the corporate services and facilities management functions of a high-profile financial services organisation operating from a modern, high-occupancy commercial estate in Central London. The host organisation maintains exacting standards of operational governance and is fully committed to the highest levels of occupational safety and regulatory compliance.
Attendance at the host organisation's premises is required for two to three days per week, with the remainder of the week available for remote working. This hybrid arrangement ensures consistent face-to-face engagement with key stakeholders while affording a sustainable work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities
The Embedded Consultant will assume full ownership of the host organisation's health and safety function, operating as the principal competent person and trusted adviser to senior leadership:
- Strategic Direction: Provide expert, commercially informed advice on all health and safety matters to C-Suite executives, board members, and departmental heads.
- Fire Safety Management: Lead the Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) programme and oversee the implementation and ongoing review of fire strategies across a complex corporate estate.
- Regulatory Assurance: Ensure comprehensive compliance with all applicable Health & Safety legislation, translating regulatory requirements into practical, business-aligned policies.
- Policy & Systems Development: Develop, review, and embed robust health and safety management systems, policies, and procedures tailored to the operational risks of the corporate environment.
- Audit & Reporting: Conduct systematic premises inspections, audits, and incident investigations, producing concise, evidence-based reports with clear recommendations for executive-level consideration.
- Culture & Training: Design and deliver targeted training and awareness programmes to embed a proactive, positive safety culture throughout the host organisation.
Candidate Requirements
The Consultancy wishes to attract a polished, technically proficient professional with demonstrable experience within corporate office or commercial settings. The role demands exceptional stakeholder management skills, professional gravitas, and the ability to influence at the most senior levels.
Essential:
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) as a minimum; NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ Level 6, or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Substantial, post-qualification experience in a Health and Safety Consultant, Senior Advisor, or equivalent capacity, specifically within corporate office, commercial premises, or professional services environments.
- Proven, demonstrable expertise in Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) and the strategic management of fire safety within occupied commercial buildings.
- Comprehensive knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations applicable to corporate office settings.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence and credibility to present complex technical information to non-specialist senior boards.
- Previous experience in an embedded, seconded, or client-dedicated capacity is highly advantageous.
Desirable:
- Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH) or working towards.
- NEBOSH Fire Certificate or equivalent fire-specific qualification.
- Experience within the financial, professional services, or corporate real estate sectors.
