World Class Defence Organisation is currently looking to recruit an Embedded Software Engineer on an initial 6 month contract. 
 
  • C++, Rhapsody (UML)
  • Knowledge of JIRA
  • Full software life cycle experience
 
Rate: £70.00 per hour
Location: Bristol
Hybrid / Remote working: Full time on site (occasional work from home day)
Contract: 37 Hours per week
Overtime: Hours worked over 37 hours per week will be calculated at ‘time and a quarter’
Duration: 6 Months (initially and then ongoing and long-term thereafter)
IR35 status: Inside IR35 (Umbrella)
 
Job Description:

We are a world leader in missile and missile systems, seeking a highly capable and adaptable Embedded Software Engineer to join our Development Facility in Bristol. As part of our growing dynamic Software team, you will develop the latest mission-critical defence systems. You will work as part of a medium-sized team and be empowered to work individually with little supervision.
As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing critical missile control software, ensuring all deliverables align with Project System requirements and Interface Control Documents. You will be fully embedded in the complete Software Development Life Cycle.
To maintain the highest levels of safety and reliability, you will develop code in accordance with Company and MISRA C++ standards and actively participate in peer code quality reviews. Given the scale and criticality of these systems, testing is paramount; you will be responsible for driving quality through rigorous unit, functional, and hardware-in-the-loop integration testing.
 
Responsibilities:

The responsibilities for this role are:

  1. Development on Linux of Embedded Real-Time software using Rhapsody & C++ in a multi-threaded Application to software requirements & ICDs.
  2. Writing unit/functional tests and conduct integration testing with the target hardware.
  3. Adhering to the agreed Project Planning and Project Quality processes.
  4. Use JIRA for project management and issue tracking
  5. The role will involve working within a lab environment running software on target hardware.
 
Skillset/experience required:

  1. Significant experience of developing and debugging Real time Software applications using C++.
  2. Considerable experience of Rhapsody UML or other model-driven development tool.
  3. Extensive experience in developing functional and integration tests as well as simulation and hardware testing.
  4. Proven experience of developing and testing software to requirements and ICD’s.
  5. Competent with MS Office tools/DOORS, for reviewing and updating technical documentation.
  6. Working understanding of configuration management tools such as RTC/EWM.
  7. Knowledge of Python / Ada / FreeRTOS would be highly beneficial.
