Embedded Software - PLC Experience Essential

Are you an experienced Embedded Software or Controls Engineer with strong hands-on PLC programming experience?

We’re looking for an experienced engineer to join a technically challenging engineering environment, working across embedded software, PLC control systems and industrial automation.

This position would suit someone who is comfortable working at both embedded and controls level and has previous experience developing, integrating and debugging PLC-based systems.

The Role

You’ll be involved in the design, development and integration of embedded and control systems, working closely with other software, electronics and engineering teams.

Responsibilities may include:

• Developing and maintaining PLC control software
• Programming and debugging Ladder Logic
• Embedded software development using C / C++
• Developing and integrating control systems
• Working with microcontrollers and real-time embedded systems
• Integration of sensors, motors, actuators and other hardware
• Troubleshooting and debugging software and control issues
• Supporting system testing, commissioning and validation
• Working with industrial communication protocols
• Producing technical documentation

What We’re Looking For

PLC experience is essential for this position. We’re particularly interested in engineers who can demonstrate practical experience programming and debugging PLC-controlled equipment rather than purely theoretical knowledge.

Ideally, you'll have experience with:

• PLC programming – essential
• Ladder Logic
• Embedded C / C++
• Embedded systems / firmware development
• Motion control, robotics or industrial automation
• Microcontrollers
• CAN, RS-232, RS-485, Ethernet or similar protocols
• Control system integration
• Hardware/software debugging
• Safety-related control systems would be advantageous

You’ll need to be a practical, hands-on engineer who is comfortable investigating problems across both software and hardware.
