Are you skilled in supporting young people with social, emotional and behavioural needs, and looking for a role where you can make a genuine difference to their everyday lives?

About the Role

A further education provider in London is seeking an Emotional Behavioural Specialist to join their learner support team. You'll work closely with learners who present with emotional and behavioural challenges, helping them to develop the strategies, resilience and confidence they need to engage fully with their education.

This is a contract role with an anticipated start date of October 2026, offering the chance to work as part of a wider support team dedicated to helping learners overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support to learners with emotional and behavioural difficulties.

  • Using de-escalation and behaviour management techniques to support learners through moments of distress or challenge.

  • Working closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams and external agencies to put in place effective support plans.

  • Monitoring and recording learner progress, and contributing to reviews of individual support plans.

  • Promoting a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment for all learners.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Experience supporting learners with social, emotional and behavioural needs, ideally within an education setting

  • Sound understanding of behaviour management and de-escalation techniques

  • Ability to build trusting, positive relationships with young people

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • A calm, patient and resilient approach to challenging situations

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Recognised training in behaviour support techniques, such as Team Teach

  • Experience working within a further education college setting

  • Relevant qualification in education, youth work, psychology or a related field
