Employability Adviser

We are currently recruiting for an Employability Adviser to support the delivery of an employability programme helping people who are out of work overcome barriers, develop their skills and move towards sustainable employment.

You will manage a caseload of clients and provide tailored, one-to-one mentoring and employment support, working closely with individuals to understand their circumstances and help them achieve their employment goals.

Working Arrangements

  • Community-based role
  • 2 days per week in the office
  • Remaining days split between outreach locations, home working and The Pod, depending on service requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of clients, providing personalised employment advice, mentoring and support.
  • Carry out assessments and develop individual action and support plans with clients.
  • Provide ongoing reviews and adapt support to meet changing needs.
  • Help clients overcome barriers to employment, including accessing education, training, skills development and job opportunities.
  • Provide practical job-search support, including helping clients identify suitable vacancies and prepare for employment.
  • Identify and support relevant training and development opportunities for individuals and groups.
  • Work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure clients can access appropriate support and services.
  • Build effective relationships with employers, voluntary organisations and statutory agencies.
  • Participate in the programme's triage process and ensure clients receive appropriate support.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records and programme databases, ensuring information is recorded in line with reporting requirements.
  • Develop an understanding of local community needs and contribute to initiatives aimed at tackling poverty and improving employment opportunities.
  • Handle personal and sensitive information appropriately and in line with data protection and information-sharing requirements.
  • Work as part of an integrated employability team and contribute to the ongoing development of the service.
  • Travel to different locations as required by the needs of the role.

About You

We are looking for someone with experience in employability, employment support, careers advice, mentoring, skills development or a similar client-facing service.

You should have:

  • Experience supporting people who are unemployed or facing barriers to employment.
  • Strong communication, mentoring and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience managing a caseload and maintaining accurate client records.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with individuals from a range of backgrounds.
  • A practical, supportive and person-centred approach.
  • Experience working with partner organisations, employers or community services.
  • Good organisational and administrative skills.
