The Role

We are looking for a passionate and motivated Employability Coach to join our Supported Employment Team. In this rewarding role, you will support people with learning disabilities to develop workplace skills, gain valuable work experience, and secure meaningful paid employment within their local communities.

You will work directly with individuals, employers, families, and partner organisations to remove barriers to employment and help people achieve their career aspirations.

Key Responsibilities

As an Employability Coach, you will:

  • Provide personalised employment support to individuals with learning disabilities.
  • Support people to identify career goals, build confidence, and develop employability skills.
  • Deliver job coaching using systematic instruction techniques and tailored support plans.
  • Assist individuals with CV preparation, job applications, interviews, and work trials.
  • Provide workplace training and on-the-job support to help individuals learn job tasks and work independently.
  • Identify and implement reasonable adjustments, assistive technology, and workplace accommodations.
  • Support individuals with workplace expectations, communication, travel training, personal presentation, and professional behaviours.
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure health and safety requirements are understood and followed.
  • Build strong relationships with local employers, Job Centres, local authorities, third-sector organisations, families, and carers.
  • Promote inclusive employment opportunities and identify suitable work placements and paid employment opportunities.
  • Monitor progress, maintain accurate records, and contribute to funding and reporting requirements.
  • Participate in meetings, reviews, and training to support continuous improvement and positive outcomes.

You will be someone who:

  • Is passionate about supporting people with learning disabilities to achieve their goals.
  • Has excellent communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
  • Can work collaboratively with employers, families, and external agencies.
  • Is confident supporting people in workplace environments and adapting support to individual needs.
  • Is organised, proactive, and able to manage a varied workload.
  • Understands the importance of dignity, respect, inclusion, and person-centred support.

Essential Requirements

  • GCSE English and Maths (Grade 5/C or equivalent).
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Access to a vehicle for work purposes.
  • Ability to travel across the local area to support participants and engage with employers.
