BAE Systems is seeking an experienced Employee Relations Adviser to join its Employee Relations Centre of Expertise, working within the UK Case Coaching service.
You will manage a varied portfolio of complex employee relations cases while providing pragmatic, legally sound advice to managers, HR colleagues and senior stakeholders. The position requires someone capable of working autonomously, identifying and escalating risk appropriately, and balancing legal compliance with the operational needs of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage a substantial portfolio of employee relations cases, including investigations, disciplinary matters and grievances of varying complexity and risk.
• Lead cases through to resolution in accordance with company policies, employment legislation and the Acas Code of Practice.
• Provide clear, pragmatic and legally sound advice to managers at all levels.
• Assess potential legal, commercial and reputational risks and escalate significant concerns appropriately.
• Coach managers to improve their confidence and capability in handling employee relations matters.
• Influence decision-making through well-reasoned recommendations that consider both colleague and business outcomes.
• Work collaboratively with HR, employment law specialists, trade unions, employee representatives, Ethics and Security.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive case records in line with internal data-quality and compliance requirements.
• Remain up to date with developments in employment legislation, case law and wider employee relations practice.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives involving ER policy, processes, technology and knowledge sharing.
Required Skills & Experience:
• Strong, demonstrable experience of employee relations and case management.
• Experience independently managing complex investigations, disciplinary matters and grievances.
• Current knowledge of UK employment legislation, case law and the Acas Code of Practice.
• The ability to assess legal and reputational risk and recognise when escalation is required.
• Experience working with trade unions or employee representative groups.
• Excellent stakeholder management, influencing and consultancy skills.
• Confident coaching and advising managers at different levels of seniority.
• Strong communication, diplomacy and decision-making skills.
• Experience using digital case management systems and maintaining accurate records.
• The ability to analyse case data and use it to identify trends or actionable insights.
