About the Opportunity
We are recruiting for a passionate and proactive Employment Specialist to support individuals with health conditions, disabilities and other barriers to secure, sustain and progress in employment.
This is a rewarding, community-based opportunity where you will work closely with individuals and employers to provide personalised, practical and ongoing support. Using an Individual Placement and Support (IPS) approach, you will help people Overcome workplace barriers, build confidence, achieve their employment goals and progress within their careers.
As an Employment Specialist, you will combine coaching, advocacy, employer engagement and problem-solving to create sustainable outcomes for both individuals and businesses.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Individualised In-Work Support.
- Provide tailored one-to-one support to individuals in employment, helping them overcome workplace challenges and sustain their roles.
- Develop personalised action plans focused on job retention, wellbeing, confidence and career progression.
- Regularly review progress and adapt support in response to changing circumstances and individual needs.
- Empower individuals to develop the confidence, skills and resilience required to succeed in the workplace.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with employers across the Mansfield area.
- Engage with employers to understand their needs and identify opportunities for individuals supported through the service.
- Promote inclusive employment practices and appropriate workplace adjustments.
- Work collaboratively with employers to resolve workplace challenges and achieve positive employment outcomes.
- Act as a trusted advocate, ensuring individuals can access appropriate support, resources and workplace adjustments.
- Identify opportunities for training, professional development and career progression.
- Provide practical guidance and encouragement to help individuals achieve their employment aspirations.
- Build strong relationships with customers, employers and wider stakeholders.
- Identify potential barriers to sustained employment and intervene proactively.
- Signpost and refer individuals to appropriate specialist services where additional support is required.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to coordinate effective solutions.
- Maintain a person-centred approach while supporting individuals to take ownership of their employment journey.
- Maintain accurate, timely and compliant records of customer interactions, action plans and employment outcomes.
- Manage a varied caseload effectively, prioritising activity according to customer need.
- Work towards agreed performance targets, outcomes and quality standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, best practice and the development of effective employment support.

You will have:

- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
The following experience would be advantageous:
- Previous experience as an Employment Specialist, Employment Advisor, IPS Practitioner or similar employability professional.
- Experience within employability, supported employment, welfare-to-work, careers guidance or vocational rehabilitation.
- Knowledge of workplace wellbeing, disability inclusion and reasonable adjustments.
- Understanding of benefits, health-related employment support or vocational services.
- Experience supporting individuals with mental health conditions, disabilities or complex barriers to employment.
- Experience of employer engagement, partnership development and stakeholder management.
- Knowledge or practical experience of the IPS model.
