We are seeking a highly skilled Engine Rebuilder to join our client’s reputable workshop in Chelmsford, Essex. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced mechanical professionals passionate about vehicle repair, particularly within the luxury car sector. Duties of the Engine Rebuilder:
  • Strip, inspect, measure, and rebuild engines to manufacturer and company standards
  • Diagnose engine faults and identify root causes of mechanical issues
  • Carry out complete engine overhauls, including replacing internal components
  • Inspect engine parts for wear and damage, ensuring all components meet specifications
  • Reassemble engines with precision and attention to detail
  • Conduct engine testing and quality assurance checks post-rebuild
  • Maintain detailed records of work, parts used, and measurements taken
  • Utilise diagnostic tools and technical data to support repairs and fault diagnosis
  • Ensure workshop equipment and tools are maintained and used correctly
  • Keep the workshop environment clean, safe, and organised in line with health and safety standards
  • Complete all work to high standards, minimising rework and maximising customer satisfaction
Requirements of the Engine Rebuilder:
  • NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent qualification
  • Proven experience in engine rebuilding, overhauls, or advanced mechanical repairs
  • Strong understanding of engine systems and manufacturer repair procedures
  • Excellent attention to detail and diagnostic skills as the Engine Rebuilder
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team within a busy workshop environment
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively
  • Knowledge of manufacturer specifications and repair standards
  • Full UK driving licence
