Geotechnical Engineer
Location: Liverpool
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 (Dependent on Experience)



About the Role

An established and growing engineering consultancy is seeking a motivated Geotechnical Engineer to join its Liverpool-based team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of geotechnical and ground investigation projects across the commercial, residential, infrastructure, and development sectors.

The successful candidate will be involved in both site-based and office-based activities, supporting projects from initial investigation through to technical assessment, reporting, and project delivery. Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake and supervise ground investigation works across a variety of sites.
  • Coordinate site operations and ensure technical standards are maintained throughout project delivery.
  • Log soil and rock samples in accordance with current industry standards.
  • Prepare factual and interpretative geotechnical reports.
  • Assist with geotechnical assessments, foundation recommendations, and earthworks evaluations.
  • Support Phase I and Phase II site investigations where required.
  • Manage subcontractors, drilling crews, and site contractors.
  • Monitor project programmes, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Maintain accurate project records and technical documentation.
  • Liaise professionally with clients, contractors, regulators, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.


Requirements

  • Previous experience within a geotechnical, engineering geology, or geo-environmental consultancy.
  • Understanding of ground investigation techniques, soil and rock logging, and geotechnical assessment practices.
  • Degree qualified in Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, Geology, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Knowledge of current geotechnical standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Strong technical report writing and communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Commercial awareness and ability to manage project priorities.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for site work.
