Engineering & Maintenance Engineer

EVP Recruitment Ltd

Engineering Projects & Maintenance Engineer

Are you an engineer who enjoys designing better solutions as much as fixing existing ones? We're looking for someone who wants to work on a unique combination of maintenance, automation, mechanical design and engineering projects across a diverse agricultural and renewable energy business.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a practical and innovative engineer to join a progressive agricultural business operating across food production, renewable energy and farming.  This is far more than a traditional maintenance role. We're looking for someone who enjoys understanding how things work, improving existing systems and designing new engineering solutions that increase efficiency and reduce waste.

Working across a diverse engineering environment, you'll support the maintenance, development and continuous improvement of a wide range of mechanical, electrical and automated systems.

Whether you're an early-career engineer looking for a role with genuine variety or an experienced engineer seeking a new challenge, this position offers excellent long-term career development and the opportunity to make a real impact.

The Role

You'll be involved in a wide variety of engineering activities including:

Maintaining and improving mechanical and electrical plant across the business.

Supporting the operation and continuous improvement of renewable energy systems.

Fault finding on mechanical, electrical and control systems.

Assisting with PLC, HMI and automation programming.

Supporting process monitoring and system optimisation.

Designing and developing engineering improvements to increase reliability and efficiency.

Fabricating and developing bespoke engineering solutions where required.

Maintaining utilities including water systems, heating, cooling and pumping equipment.

Supporting machinery controls, instrumentation and monitoring systems.

Assisting with IT infrastructure, communications and site control systems where appropriate.

Recording engineering performance data and contributing to continuous improvement projects.

Working across a varied estate supporting both day-to-day maintenance and long-term engineering projects.

No two days are the same, making this an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys variety and problem solving.

About You

  • Good mechanical fault-finding skills.

  • Basic electrical knowledge.

  • Interest in automation, PLCs or control systems.

  • Practical hands-on approach to engineering.

  • Good communication and organisational skills.

  • Full UK driving licence.

Experience with any of the following would be advantageous but is not essential, as training can be provided:

  • PLC programming.

  • SCADA systems.

  • HMI development.

  • Process engineering.

  • Pumps, motors and instrumentation.

  • Renewable energy systems.

  • CAD or mechanical design.

  • Welding or fabrication.

What's on Offer

  • Competitive salary.

  • Accommodation available if required.

  • Structured training and ongoing professional development.

  • Opportunity to develop skills across mechanical, electrical and automation engineering.

  • Exposure to renewable energy technologies and modern farming systems.

  • Long-term career progression.

  • Friendly and supportive working environment.

  • Varied and technically interesting workload.

Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to join a forward-thinking engineering business where innovation and continuous improvement are central to everything we do.

Rather than carrying out repetitive maintenance, you'll be encouraged to improve equipment, develop new ideas and work on engineering projects that have a genuine impact on the business.

If you enjoy practical engineering, solving technical problems and working on a diverse range of mechanical, electrical and automation projects, we'd like to hear from you.
