Engineering Manager

Tec Partners Recruitment Ltd

We're working with a global engineering company based near Wymondham who are looking to appoint an Engineering Manager to lead a small, highly skilled engineering team.

This is a genuinely hands-on management role, ideal for someone who enjoys remaining technically involved while leading projects and people. You'll oversee the development of bespoke electro-mechanical products from concept through to manufacture, working closely with customers, manufacturing and the wider engineering team to deliver innovative solutions.

Rather than stepping away from engineering, you'll be expected to lead from the front, remaining involved in product design, problem-solving and technical decision-making while managing multiple New Product Introduction (NPI) and R&D projects.

The Role

As Engineering Manager, you'll be responsible for leading a small engineering team while ensuring multiple engineering projects are delivered on time and to the highest technical standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor and develop a small team of engineers.
  • Manage multiple R&D and New Product Introduction (NPI) projects from concept through to production.
  • Remain hands-on with the design and development of bespoke electro-mechanical products.
  • Oversee the development of manufacturing processes, tooling, jigs and fixtures.
  • Work closely with production and programme teams to ensure projects are delivered successfully.
  • Act as the technical point of contact for customers, providing engineering support and project updates.
  • Support technical quotations, engineering documentation and engineering change activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement across engineering processes and product development.
  • Collaborate with international engineering teams where required.

About You

Our client is looking for an experienced engineer who combines strong technical ability with proven leadership skills.

Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
  • Previous experience leading or mentoring an engineering team.
  • Strong product design experience, ideally working with electro-mechanical products.
  • Experience delivering New Product Introduction (NPI) and R&D projects.
  • A solid understanding of manufacturing and engineering processes.
  • Experience using CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar.
  • Excellent communication skills with the confidence to work directly with customers.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of electronics would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to balance technical engineering with leadership responsibilities.

Benefits:

  • Salary up to £75,000
  • 10% annual bonus based on company performance
  • 25 days' holiday, increasing with length of service
  • Healthcare scheme
  • Company pension
  • Fully office-based role
  • Excellent long-term career prospects within an established global engineering business
