I am currently recruiting for an Engineering Shift Manager – Nights to join a busy and fast-paced manufacturing environment.

This is a key leadership position within the Engineering function, responsible for the effective running of the engineering department on shift, ensuring maintenance requirements are prioritised, engineering KPIs are achieved and the team operates safely and efficiently.

You will lead and support a team of engineers, acting as the key point of escalation for engineering issues and ensuring the site receives the right level of engineering support throughout the shift.

The Role - Engineering Shift Manager - NIghts

  • Manage the day-to-day engineering workload and ensure business requirements are met.
  • Lead, motivate, coach and develop the engineering team.
  • Prioritise reactive and planned engineering tasks.
  • Act as the point of escalation, making effective decisions under pressure.
  • Ensure engineering KPIs and performance targets are achieved.
  • Plan and coordinate maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all engineering work is completed safely and in accordance with company procedures.
  • Manage site contractors and ensure all relevant documentation is completed.
  • Lead Health & Safety initiatives, audits and improvement activities.
  • Ensure accurate verbal and written shift handovers.
  • Respond to site emergencies, including coordinating fire searches when required.
  • Work closely with production and other departments to minimise downtime and maintain operational performance.

About You

I am looking for an experienced Engineering Manager, Engineering Shift Manager, Engineering Supervisor, Maintenance Manager, Engineering Team Leader or Senior Maintenance Engineer who is ready to take the next step in their career.

You will ideally have:

  • A served Engineering Apprenticeship, covering both mechanical and electrical disciplines.
  • Ideally an electrical bias.
  • Proven engineering leadership experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical engineering knowledge.
  • Experience managing, coaching and developing engineering teams.
  • Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong communication skills at all levels.
  • A good understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualification would be advantageous.
  • The ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions quickly.
  • A flexible approach to working hours.

The Package - Engineering Shift Manager - Nights 

£66,500 per annum

6am–6pm Panama night shift pattern
