Stores Assistant

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Hours: 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday

A well-established engineering and manufacturing business is looking to recruit a Stores Assistant to join its busy operations team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and reliable individual with stores or warehouse experience to play a key role in supporting production through the efficient receipt, storage and distribution of materials.

The Role

As a Stores Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation of the stores function, ensuring materials are received, stored and issued accurately while maintaining stock integrity. You will also provide cover for the Stores Supervisor during periods of annual leave or absence.

Working closely with production, purchasing and other departments, you'll help ensure materials are available when required and that all stock movements are accurately recorded.

Key Responsibilities

  • Issue consumables and tools from stores, accurately recording all stock transactions.
  • Receive and check incoming deliveries against purchase orders, reporting any discrepancies or quality concerns.
  • Match delivery notes with purchase orders and liaise with the purchasing team.
  • Pick and prepare materials for production using issued pick lists.
  • Pack and prepare goods for dispatch, ensuring items are protected during transit.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate stock records and material traceability.
  • Support stock control activities and help maintain appropriate inventory levels.
  • Carry out deliveries and collections as required.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe and organised stores environment.
  • Assist with general stores administration and supervisory duties when required.
  • Work collaboratively with production and supervisory teams to ensure efficient material flow.
  • Contribute ideas to improve stores processes and overall operational efficiency.
  • Follow all Health & Safety procedures and company policies at all times.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience in a stores, warehouse or materials handling environment (preferred).
  • Good organisational skills with a methodical and accurate approach.
  • Strong numerical and written communication skills.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A flexible attitude and willingness to support different areas of the business when required.
  • Good time management and attention to detail.

Working Hours

39 hours per week

  • Monday: 7:30am – 4:00pm
  • Tuesday: 7:30am – 4:30pm
  • Wednesday & Thursday: 7:30am – 5:00pm
  • Friday: 7:30am – 12:00pm
