Engineering Team Leader – Electrical Bias
Location: Doncaster
Salary: £56,000
Shift: 3 on 2 off 2 on 3 off (12 hours days and nights).

We are currently recruiting for an Engineering Team Leader – Electrical Bias to join a busy building products manufacturing client in Doncaster. This is a fantastic opportunity to take a hands-on leadership role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, managing a team of engineers while helping to drive plant reliability, efficiency and continuous improvement.
The Role
As Engineering Team Leader, you will lead the day-to-day engineering function, ensuring production equipment is maintained safely, efficiently and reliably. You will combine strong electrical engineering expertise with effective people leadership, supporting both planned and reactive maintenance activities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead, motivate and manage a team of maintenance engineers.
- Coordinate planned and reactive maintenance activities across the site.
- Carry out electrical fault-finding, diagnostics and repairs on manufacturing equipment.
- Respond to engineering breakdowns quickly and effectively.
- Drive improvements in plant reliability, OEE and equipment performance.
- Support and develop engineers through coaching, training and performance management.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in line with company procedures.
- Manage and improve the planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programme.
- Work closely with Production and Operations teams to minimise downtime.
- Identify recurring faults and implement effective root-cause solutions.
- Maintain accurate engineering records and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
- Support engineering projects, equipment upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
The successful candidate must have an electrical bias and ideally have:
- Previous experience as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer, Engineering Team Leader, Engineering Supervisor, Chargehand or Senior Maintenance Engineer.
- Strong electrical engineering and fault-finding skills.
- Experience working within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Previous experience leading or supervising an engineering team.
- A recognised electrical/engineering qualification such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC or equivalent.
- Good knowledge of PLCs, sensors, control systems, motors, inverters and industrial electrical systems.
- Strong understanding of PPM and preventative maintenance systems.
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication, leadership and organisational skills.
- A proactive approach to improving equipment reliability and reducing downtime.
- Experience within building products, construction materials, plastics, concrete, aggregates or a similar manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
