Engineering Technician (Contract) — 6 Months
Location: On site near Bath.
Contract Type: 6-Month Contract
Rate: Dependant on experience
Our client is a healthcare technology and diagnostics company developing. They're looking for an Engineering Technician to join their engineering team on a 6-month contract, supporting internal development programs and helping resolve reliability issues, trial design improvements, and run tests and experiments alongside scientists and engineers.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a strong mechanical/electrical assembly background and a genuine interest in scientific instrumentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Executing repairs and modifications to equipment and simple mechanical presses
- Analysis of defective equipment
- Product and component testing, including reliability testing
- Developing protocols to commission simple production equipment, including equipment qualification
- Promoting cGMP compliance within a pilot production facility
- Maintaining a set of working instruments for day-to-day use
What We're Looking For
- Graduate in Electronic or Mechanical Engineering, or BTEC/equivalent in an engineering discipline
- Experience working with mechanical assembly equipment
- Experience with electrical products and a basic understanding of electronics
- Soldering experience, particularly SMD rework
- Fault-finding and repair experience on production equipment or scientific instruments
- Experience in product testing and failure analysis
- Competent practical skills running and maintaining diverse mechanical test equipment
- Scientific instrumentation experience preferred
- Strong record-keeping skills
- Self-motivated, able to work unaided
- Fully computer literate
