Job Title: English Teacher
Location: The Tower School, Epping, CM16 4BA
Hours: 37.5 per week | Monday to Friday
Salary: Up to £42,000 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: September 2026

About the Role

We're looking for an enthusiastic and resilient teacher to join our dedicated team, delivering engaging English lessons that inspire confidence, creativity and a lifelong love of learning. Working in our specialist school, you'll support pupils with SEN and SEMH needs through personalised, innovative teaching that enables every learner to achieve their full potential.

What you will be doing
- Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive and differentiated English lessons.
- Create a positive, nurturing classroom where every pupil feels safe, valued and motivated to learn.
- Assess, monitor and track pupil progress using Evidence for Learning, adapting teaching to maximise outcomes.
- Inspire learners through creative teaching approaches, including experiential and personalised learning.
- Support pupils' academic, social and emotional development while promoting independence and resilience.
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, families and the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Contribute to EHCP reviews, pupil reports and communication with parents and carers.
- Promote positive behaviour using restorative and therapeutic approaches, helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.
What you will be bring
- QTS or equivalent and degree required.
- Experience teaching English across Key Stages.
- A passion for delivering engaging, high-quality lessons.
- Excellent classroom management and behaviour support skills.
- The ability to differentiate learning to meet a wide range of needs.
- Resilience, creativity and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for young people.
Experience working within an SEN or specialist education setting is desirable, but not essential. If you're an outstanding teacher with the right values, motivation and passion, we'd love to hear from you.

The Tower School is an independent specialist day school in Epping, Essex, supporting 62 pupils aged 11–18 with autism and complex needs. In a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment, pupils receive personalised support to develop academically, socially, and emotionally. Our curriculum blends academic learning with life skills and personal development, fostering confidence, independence, and resilience. Guided by the Ask, Accept, Develop framework, The Tower School empowers every young person to thrive and reach their full potential.
