Teach Now is recruiting an outstanding English Teacher for a full-time secondary-school position in Enfield.
The school is seeking a teacher who can make literature accessible, develop confident writers and create classrooms where students are expected to think deeply, contribute thoughtfully and take pride in their work.
Whether you are exploring Shakespeare with Year 8, improving analytical writing with GCSE pupils or discussing a challenging novel with sixth-form students, you will be joining a department that values strong subject knowledge alongside excellent classroom practice.
You will:
- Plan and deliver engaging English Language and Literature lessons
- Teach across KS3 and KS4, with KS5 opportunities dependent on experience
- Develop pupils’ reading, writing, speaking and analytical skills
- Teach GCSE examination classes and prepare pupils effectively for assessment
- Use assessment information to identify gaps and plan intervention
- Support pupils with differing literacy levels and additional needs
- Promote ambitious vocabulary and high standards of written communication
- Establish a calm and purposeful classroom environment
- Contribute to department planning, moderation and curriculum development
- Participate in wider literacy, reading or enrichment initiatives
- Holds QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
- Has a relevant English degree or strong subject-specialist background
- Has recent experience teaching English in a UK secondary school
- Understands GCSE English Language and Literature requirements
- Can demonstrate effective behaviour management
- Has high expectations for academic progress
- Can engage reluctant readers as well as challenge high-attaining pupils
- Works effectively as part of a department
- Is committed to safeguarding and inclusive practice
- Has the right to work in the UK
- Holds an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or is willing to apply
- Can provide suitable recent professional references
Experience teaching A-level English Language or Literature would be welcomed where the timetable includes KS5.
