About the Role
Teach Now is recruiting an engaging and knowledgeable English Teacher for a secondary school in Barnet from September.
The English department is looking for a teacher who can inspire students to become confident readers, writers and critical thinkers. You will predominantly teach across KS3 and KS4, delivering a broad curriculum covering literature, language, creative writing and analytical skills.
The role would suit a teacher who combines secure subject knowledge with strong classroom management and knows how to make challenging texts accessible and relevant to a wide range of learners.
- Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons across KS3 and KS4.
- Prepare students effectively for GCSE English Language and Literature.
- Develop students’ reading, writing and analytical skills.
- Use assessment data to identify gaps and plan appropriate intervention.
- Provide clear and constructive feedback.
- Differentiate effectively for SEND, EAL and higher-attaining students.
- Maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom routines.
- Contribute to departmental planning and curriculum development.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Degree or strong academic background in English or a closely related subject.
- Experience teaching English within a UK secondary school.
- Strong understanding of the KS3 and GCSE English curriculum.
- Confident behaviour-management skills.
- Commitment to raising achievement for pupils of all abilities.
- A collaborative English department.
- Established schemes of work and curriculum resources.
- Support from experienced subject and senior leaders.

Salary will be determined by qualifications, experience and position on the appropriate teacher pay scale.
