Environmental Health Officer

Our West London client is looking for an experienced Food Safety Officer to strengthen the team and keep inspections on track.

You'll manage your own caseload of food hygiene and food standards inspections, working across a mixed portfolio of premises — from small takeaways to larger commercial operators.

What the role covers:

• Routine food hygiene inspections under the Food Hygiene Rating Scheme
• Food standards work and sampling where required
• Investigating complaints and following up on non-compliance
• Enforcement action — advice, informal warnings, statutory notices through to prosecution referral where necessary
• Liaising with FBOs, EHOs, and other council teams
• Accurate case recording and report writing to council/FSA standards

We need someone who:

• Is a qualified EHO (CIEH/RSPH or equivalent) or has substantial demonstrable food safety experience
• Holds current competency in food hygiene inspections (and food standards, if applicable)
• Can hit the ground running with minimal supervision
• Has strong working knowledge of the Food Safety Act, Regulation (EC) 852/2004, and FHRS
• Is confident dealing with FBOs directly, including difficult conversations
