Environmental Protection Officer in Staffordshire

Are you an experienced Environmental Protection Officer looking for a flexible part-time contract?

We’re working with a local authority in Staffordshire that is looking to strengthen its Environmental Protection team with an experienced officer. The role will have a particular focus on contaminated land, planning consultations and statutory nuisance, alongside wider Environmental Protection duties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Reviewing and responding to planning applications and consultations
  • Providing technical advice relating to contaminated land
  • Assessing land contamination reports, investigations and remediation proposals
  • Investigating statutory nuisance and wider environmental protection complaints
  • Providing professional advice to colleagues, developers and other stakeholders
  • Supporting the wider Environmental Protection team where required
What We’re Looking For:
  • Previous Environmental Protection experience, ideally within a local authority
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience of contaminated land
  • Confidence handling planning consultations and responses
  • Experience investigating statutory nuisance
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently and hit the ground running
