About Hydram Engineering
Hydram Engineering is one of the largest subcontract precision sheet metal fabrication companies in Europe, and a leader in the UK sheet metal fabrication market, serving a diverse portfolio of customers from our single site in Chilton, County Durham. Our business has consistent, often scheduled demand, with deep IT integration across sales, manufacturing, logistics, HR, purchasing, and finance.
Our current platforms are reliable but dated, so we're modernising our core transactional system with a new implementation of Epicor's mature Kinetic platform — a challenging project given how established and interconnected our existing systems are. Our current two-person IT systems team brings strong development and integration experience but lacks the capacity and Epicor-specific expertise to lead this alone. That's where you come in: you'll join the team to strengthen it and drive the systems transition and the improvements it will unlock.
About the Role
You'll be a vital member of the technical implementation team, working closely with a multifunctional project group to understand business requirements, identify functionality gaps, and develop practical solutions. This is a hands-on role covering everything from system design and data migration through to testing, go-live and post-implementation support.
Whether you're an experienced Epicor Kinetic specialist or an IT professional who has been part of a Kinetic implementation team within a manufacturing business, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess project requirements and map them to the capabilities of Epicor Kinetic
- Identify functionality gaps between existing legacy systems and Epicor
- Customise and tailor the Epicor system to meet business requirements
- Create custom BPM rules, BAQs and reports
- Customise the user interface
- Oversee and verify the transfer of data from legacy systems
- Test and pilot the new system across a wide range of scenarios
- Help optimise the performance of the new system
- Create standard operating procedures and support the training of end users
- Support the planning and delivery of go-live
- Provide technical support following implementation
- Identify and prioritise opportunities for future improvement
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Experience using and customising Epicor Kinetic
- Experience writing custom Epicor BPM rules, BAQs and reports
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to understand legacy IT systems quickly
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multifunctional project team
- Strong communication, organisation and prioritisation skills
Desirable
- Previous experience of an ERP rollout within a manufacturing business
- Knowledge of SQL Server
- An appreciation of the organisational and cultural issues that come with significant business change
Why Join Us?
This is a genuine opportunity to play a key role in a major ERP transformation within an established and successful North East manufacturing business — with real influence over how Epicor Kinetic is designed, configured, tested and implemented, and how it's used across Hydram going forward.
While this is initially a fixed-term contract, there is the possibility it may lead to a permanent position within the business, depending on ongoing project and business needs.
Benefits
- Salary of £50,000 - £70,000 (doe)
- 25 days' holiday + 8 bank holidays
- Flexible working hours, with an early finish on Fridays
- Company pension scheme contributions
- Wellbeing and employee assistance benefits
- Be part of an established, growing, and sustainable business
- Work for a business that will champion your growth and development
