We're recruiting for an Equipment Engineer to join a leading semiconductor manufacturing business, supporting state-of-the-art production equipment within a fast-paced 24/7 manufacturing environment.

Working closely with the Equipment Engineering Supervisor, Manufacturing Manager, and Plant Manager, you'll play a vital role in maintaining and improving the performance of critical process equipment. Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain over 80% uptime across key semiconductor process equipment.
  • Diagnose, fault find and repair complex manufacturing equipment and electronic PCBs to component level.
  • Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance to minimise production downtime.
  • Support and provide technical guidance to technicians, Manufacturing Shift Leaders, and production teams.
  • Work closely with Process Engineers, Equipment Engineering Supervisors, and operators to maximise equipment performance.
  • Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives, including cost reduction and process optimisation projects.
  • Assist with planning maintenance schedules and engineering projects.
  • Develop and maintain engineering documentation, work instructions, and maintenance procedures.
  • Liaise with OEM equipment suppliers, subcontractors, and service engineers when required.
  • Carry out mechanical maintenance activities, including replacement of pumps, valves, and associated components.
  • Safely work on equipment involving chemical handling while following all health and safety procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and health & safety regulations.

Skills & Experience

  • HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Engineering, Electronics, Science, Mathematics, Material Science, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in an Equipment Engineer or Maintenance Engineer role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong electronics background with the ability to diagnose and repair electronic systems to component level.
  • Experience fault finding and repairing complex automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Semiconductor or cleanroom manufacturing experience is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of wafer fabrication processes is advantageous.
  • Experience working on Epitaxy, Ion Implant, or Passivation equipment would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a methodical approach.
  • Experience working with equipment suppliers, contractors, and external service engineers.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodologies such as Kaizen or 6S is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good IT skills and experience producing technical documentation.
  • Able to manage workload independently while working effectively as part of a team.
  • Flexible approach to working alternate early and late shifts in support of a 24/7 manufacturing operation.
