Estate Services Grounds Maintenance Manager

Location: Esher, Surrey

Pay Rate: £21.45 per hour PAYE

We are currently recruiting for an Estate Services Grounds Maintenance Manager to oversee the effective and efficient delivery of grounds maintenance services across a designated geographical area.

You will lead and manage a team responsible for delivering high-quality grounds maintenance services, ensuring that work is completed safely, efficiently and to a consistently high standard. You will also oversee contractors working on specialist areas such as tree maintenance.

The role will involve regular estate inspections, responding to resident and colleague enquiries, identifying service issues and working closely with other frontline teams to improve resident satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and motivate a team delivering estate grounds maintenance services.
• Ensure all team members complete appropriate risk assessments and health & safety training.
• Promote and enforce safe working practices, including lone-working procedures.
• Respond promptly to enquiries from residents and colleagues regarding grounds maintenance services.
• Carry out regular estate inspections to ensure estates are maintained to a high standard.
• Identify and report communal repairs, compliance hazards, service issues and tenancy management concerns.
• Complete regular one-to-one meetings with team members, addressing performance issues, providing constructive feedback and recognising achievements.
• Identify and schedule project works during quieter seasonal periods.
• Monitor stock levels and order tools, equipment and materials as required.
• Ensure resources are used efficiently and provide value for money.
• Ensure all work vehicles comply with the relevant fleet policy.
• Ensure grounds maintenance machinery is regularly serviced, maintained and fit for purpose.
• Work closely with residents, contractors and other frontline teams to deliver excellent customer service.
• Oversee contractors undertaking specialist grounds maintenance works, including tree maintenance.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience working within a grounds maintenance environment.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety procedures, including risk assessments, COSHH and lone-working requirements.
• Proven experience of leading, managing, training and motivating a team.
• A proactive approach with strong problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of value for money, service charges and cost-effective service delivery.
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build positive relationships with residents.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, particularly when carrying out estate inspections and reporting issues.
• Ability to work effectively with residents, colleagues, contractors and other stakeholders.
• Valid UK driving licence with Category C1 entitlement.
• Ability to drive company vehicles when required.

Candidate Requirements

Essential:

• Right to work in the UK.
• Minimum 2 years' references / employment history.
• Previous grounds maintenance experience.
• Team management / leadership experience.
• Full UK driving licence with Category C1 entitlement and no more than 5 points.
