This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive and well-established school in St Albans, working closely with the Operations Manager and MAT Estates Lead to ensure the estate is safe, compliant, well maintained, and able to support the needs of staff, students, and visitors.

As Estates Manager, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the school estate. You'll lead a team consisting of one Lead Caretaker and four Caretakers, overseeing site maintenance, compliance, health and safety, and the delivery of high standards across the school environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience within estates, facilities, site management, maintenance, or a similar practical environment. You'll have strong maintenance knowledge, a good understanding of health and safety compliance, and either previous experience leading a small team or the confidence and aptitude to step into a leadership role.

The role:

*Manage the daily operation, maintenance, and compliance of the school estate.
*Lead and support a site team consisting of one Lead Caretaker and four Caretakers.
*Work closely with the Operations Manager and MAT Estates Lead.
*Support the planning and delivery of future capital projects.
*Oversee health and safety and statutory compliance across the site.
*Maintain the high standards expected within an Outstanding school.
*37-hour working week, Monday to Friday.
*Permanent position with an ASAP start available.
*School visits welcomed prior to interview.

The person:

*Experience within estates, facilities, site management, maintenance, or a similar background.
*Strong practical maintenance knowledge.
*Good understanding of health and safety and statutory compliance.
*Experience leading or supervising a small team would be beneficial.
*Confident stepping into a leadership role and supporting an experienced site team.
*Excellent communication and organisational skills.
*Relevant trade, maintenance, or facilities qualifications advantageous but not essential.
*Professional, reliable, and committed to maintaining high standards.
*Comfortable working within a school environment.
