Estimator in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire

EA Associates are working with an established specialist subcontractor based in Huntingdon who are looking to appoint an Estimator to join their commercial team.

The Role

Working closely with the Commercial and Operational teams, you will be responsible for preparing competitive and accurate tenders for a range of projects, ensuring opportunities are priced effectively and commercially viable.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Preparing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions.

• Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation.

• Undertaking material take-offs and preparing bills of quantities.

• Obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations.

• Liaising with clients, suppliers and internal project teams.

• Identifying potential risks and opportunities during the tender process.

• Attending site visits and pre-tender meetings where required.

• Supporting the handover of successful tenders to the delivery team.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous estimating experience within the construction industry.

• Applications are welcomed from candidates with a variety of construction backgrounds, including Main Contracting, Specialist Subcontracting and other relevant sectors.

• Good understanding of construction methods, materials and pricing.

• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.

• Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills.

• Confident communicating with clients, suppliers and colleagues.

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and estimating software.

• Ability to manage multiple tenders and work to deadlines.
