We are seeking a detail-oriented Electronics Estimator to join an established manufacturing business in Fareham. This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator with experience in an electronics manufacturing environment to support the preparation of accurate, competitive quotations for customers.
You will analyse technical data packs, drawings, Bills of Materials and manufacturing requirements to calculate material and labour costs, working closely with Engineering and Purchasing to produce robust costings and selling-price information.
The Role
As an Electronics Estimator, you will take ownership of reviewing customer data and developing detailed cost estimates for electronic manufacturing work. You will ensure estimates are accurate, commercially competitive and aligned with manufacturing capability.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyse customer manufacturing data packs, including technical drawings, Bills of Materials, material specifications and production requirements.
- Create and validate Bills of Materials in Excel where these are not supplied by the customer.
- Calculate material, component, labour and manufacturing costs to develop accurate estimates.
- Work with the Purchasing team to obtain supplier pricing and confirm component costs.
- Identify potential tooling, process and production requirements that may affect the cost estimate.
- Liaise with Engineering where manufacturing processes or technical requirements require clarification.
- Maintain internal costing templates and provide clear selling-price information.
- Prepare and present costing data in a clear, accurate and professional format.
- Support the development of competitive quotations while maintaining required commercial margins.
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, assumptions and supporting documentation.
Essential
- Previous estimating experience within an electronics manufacturing environment.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, BOMs and manufacturing documentation.
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Confident preparing, analysing and presenting cost data.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with Engineering, Purchasing and other internal teams.
- Understanding of a Contract Electronics Manufacturing (CEM) environment.
- Knowledge of electronics production techniques, materials and manufacturing processes.
- Experience of component pricing, supplier quotation analysis or purchasing support.
- Experience producing RFQs, quotations or tender costings.
You will be methodical, commercially minded and comfortable working with technical information and detailed data. You will be able to balance accuracy with pace, communicate confidently across technical and non-technical teams and take pride in producing high-quality, well-supported estimates.
