A well-established consultancy is seeking an estimator to join its growing team on a permanent PAYE basis.
Overview
This position will form part of a specialist estimating and commercial team, supporting the delivery of major infrastructure programmes and framework agreements. Based within a collaborative office environment, the successful candidate will work closely with project teams, clients, and supply chain partners to provide robust cost information that supports project planning and decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce cost estimates at different stages of project development, ranging from strategic early-stage assessments through to detailed build-up estimates using recognised industry methodologies.
- Develop comparative cost analyses to support option selection, including evaluation of capital expenditure, operational expenditure, and whole-life cost considerations.
- Assist with the creation of project cost benchmarks and budget frameworks during project inception and feasibility stages.
- Review and challenge cost submissions from project teams and contractors to ensure consistency, accuracy, and value for money.
- Gather and maintain historical project cost information in a structured format to support future forecasting and analysis activities.
- Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of estimating tools, databases, and cost models.
- Participate in project meetings and undertake site visits when required to gain a clear understanding of project scope and delivery challenges.
- Engage confidently with clients and stakeholders, providing professional input during workshops, reviews, and progress meetings.
- Manage workload across several projects simultaneously while maintaining quality and accuracy.
- Utilise a variety of estimating software platforms and commercial systems as required.
Decision-Making and Accountability
The successful candidate will be expected to work independently on day-to-day estimating activities, demonstrating initiative and sound judgement. All formal cost reports, estimates, and commercial submissions will be subject to review and approval through the appropriate management channels before issue.

- Build and maintain productive working relationships with clients, contractors, and project teams to ensure timely delivery of estimating outputs.
- Represent the business professionally when interacting with external organisations and third-party stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across the wider business, promoting effective communication and knowledge sharing.
Essential Qualifications
- Degree qualified in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
