Junior / Intermediate Quantity Surveyor & Estimator

We are recruiting for a Junior / Intermediate Quantity Surveyor & Estimator to join an established housing developer based in Colwick, Nottingham.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with some previous commercial or estimating experience within residential construction who is looking to develop their career within a growing developer.

The role will involve a mixture of Quantity Surveying and Estimating, supporting residential developments from the initial tender and pricing stages through to final account.

The Role

Working alongside the commercial and construction teams, your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing cost estimates and budgets for residential developments
• Carrying out quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications
• Preparing tender enquiries and obtaining quotations from subcontractors and suppliers
• Analysing and comparing subcontractor quotations
• Assisting with the procurement and appointment of subcontractors
• Preparing and agreeing subcontract orders
• Monitoring project costs against budgets
• Assessing subcontractor applications and preparing payment recommendations
• Identifying, pricing and managing variations
• Assisting with monthly valuations and cost reports
• Attending site meetings and liaising with site managers and subcontractors
• Measuring works on site where required
• Assisting with the preparation and agreement of final accounts
• Supporting the commercial management of projects from pre-construction through to completion

The Candidate

We are looking for someone at Junior to Intermediate level, so applications are welcomed from candidates with varying levels of experience.

Ideally you will have previous experience within residential construction, housebuilding, general contracting or a similar construction environment.

You should have a good understanding of construction drawings and costs, be commercially aware and comfortable communicating with subcontractors, suppliers and site teams.

Candidates with experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Junior Quantity Surveyor, Estimator, Assistant Estimator or Quantity Surveyor / Estimator would all be considered.

Salary

£28,000 – £45,000 per annum depending on experience
