An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Freelance Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to join a growing Fit Out & Refurbishment contractor based in London.

The company specialises in delivering commercial office Fit Out and Refurbishment projects, typically ranging from £2m–£10m, and has developed an excellent relationship with a well-known London client, with a strong pipeline of repeat work.

They are now looking for an experienced Estimator / Quantity Surveyor who wants to become genuinely involved in the business and play an important part in its continued growth.

The Role

This isn't a position where you will be restricted to one specific function.

The successful Estimator / Quantity Surveyor will primarily support the business across estimating, pre-construction and commercial activities, but they are looking for someone who is happy to roll their sleeves up and get involved wherever required.

Responsibilities will include:

• Estimating and pricing Fit Out & Refurbishment projects
• Reviewing tender documentation, drawings and specifications
• Preparing cost plans and tender submissions
• Obtaining and analysing subcontractor quotations
• Procurement and subcontractor negotiations
• Supporting live projects from a commercial perspective
• Cost reporting, valuations and variations
• Working closely with the Directors and senior management team
• Assisting with client meetings and tender presentations
• Getting involved in wider aspects of the company as the business continues to grow

The Person

The company is open-minded on background. You could come from a main contractor, fit out specialist, refurbishment contractor or another relevant area of construction.

More important is your attitude and approach.

They want someone who:

• Has experience within Estimating and/or Quantity Surveying
• Is commercially astute and confident dealing with subcontractors
• Is comfortable pricing projects in the £2m–£10m range
• Wants to become involved in more than just their job title
• Is confident working directly with senior management and clients
• Isn't afraid to offer ideas, challenge decisions and get involved
• Enjoys working within a smaller, growing business where they can make a genuine impact
