Estimator / Technical Sales Engineer

TECHNICAL ESTIMATOR / SALES ENGINEER – MAIDENHEAD, BERKSHIRE

Who we are looking for

We are looking for someone with experience in estimating, fabrication, welding, sheet metal, machining or engineering manufacturing who is comfortable interpreting engineering drawings and understanding manufacturing processes.

This position would suit either an experienced Estimator or someone from a fabrication and manufacturing background looking to move into a more office-based technical role.

The successful candidate will be commercially aware, technically minded and capable of liaising with customers whilst preparing accurate quotations for bespoke stainless steel fabrication projects.

Necessary Skills/Experience

• Experience in estimating, fabrication, welding, sheet metal, machining or engineering manufacturing
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Good understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes
• Strong communication skills
• Good attention to detail
• Computer literate

Preferable Skills/Experience

• Experience within stainless steel fabrication
• Experience estimating bespoke fabrication projects
• Experience within the food, pharmaceutical, petrochemical or process industries
• Technical sales or customer-facing experience
• Knowledge of machining and sheet metal manufacturing processes

About the Role

Type: Permanent

Location: Maidenhead, Berkshire

Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours a week - flexible start time

Salary: £45,000-£50,000

The Technical Estimator / Sales Engineer will be responsible for reviewing customer enquiries, interpreting drawings and specifications, preparing quotations and supporting projects from enquiry through to manufacture.

The role will include:

• Reviewing customer enquiries, engineering drawings and technical specifications
• Preparing quotations and cost estimates for bespoke stainless steel fabrication projects
• Liaising with customers to understand project requirements and provide technical support
• Working closely with the workshop and production teams to ensure manufacturability and accurate costing
• Assisting with project planning and delivery schedules
• Developing and maintaining strong customer relationships
• Supporting new business opportunities and helping identify potential areas for growth
• Ensuring quotations are accurate, commercially viable and delivered within required timescales
