Job Title: EV Charge Point Electrician, UK Field Based

Salary: 38k - 45k plus van, bonus

Location: Croydon & Greater London

You are good at your trade. But does your pay keep pace with what you learn?

In most jobs, a new qualification earns you a pat on the back. Here, it earns you a pay rise. This is a chance to build a real career as an electrician in one of the fastest-growing corners of the industry: EV charging.

Why this role

A fast-growing UK EV charging business is looking for a permanent Electrician to join its fleet team. You will install, test and commission EV charge points across the country. The work ranges from domestic and commercial sites to large industrial projects.

The standout is the Electrician Level System. As you build skills and gain qualifications, you move up the levels and your salary rises with you. The pathway is clear, fair and written down. You will always know what comes next and what it pays.

What you’ll do

You will install charge points to the electrical designs, cable calculations and manufacturer guides. Every job is compliant and finished to a high standard. You will work to site-specific Programmes of Work and keep your EV Qualified Supervisor updated as jobs progress.

You will complete NICEIC Electrical Installation Certificates on a tablet through the online portal. You will keep clear records of installations, inspections and remedial actions, and you will report on any issues and how you solved them.

You will work alongside project managers, supervisors and fellow electricians. You will join training sessions and team meetings. You will also be trusted to work on your own when the job needs it.

The technical edge

If you want to work on high-power DC, this is where to do it. The team installs DC chargers from 50kW up to 400kW. That experience is highly sought after, and it will set you apart for years to come.

About you

You hold an NVQ Level 3 Electrotechnical Qualification or an Approved Apprenticeship, plus the 18th Edition (C&G BS7671). You have one to three years of commercial or industrial experience, a JIB/CSCS Gold Card and a full UK driving licence. You communicate well and enjoy solving problems.

It helps if you have:

  • experience with DC chargers

  • C&G 2391 (or equivalent) Inspection and Testing

  • SSSTS

  • C&G 2919 (or equivalent) Electric Vehicle Charging

  • If you are missing some of these, the level system is designed to help you gain them.

  • Rewards and growth

  • You get a company van and fuel card for business use, paid overtime, and your travel and subsistence covered. You have 30 days’ annual leave, including company shutdown days, and you can buy up to 5 extra days.

There is a discretionary company performance bonus and a salary sacrifice pension with an 8% total contribution. Bupa private healthcare starts after six months. You also get an EV car salary sacrifice scheme, a benefits and discounts platform, enhanced family-friendly policies and long service awards.
