Exams Officer
Prospero Teaching is working with a secondary school in the Basingstoke area to recruit a highly organised and dedicated Exams Officer for a September start. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting students through one of the most important stages of their education while working within a welcoming and supportive school community.
The successful candidate will lead the administration and delivery of all internal and external examinations, ensuring processes are managed efficiently, accurately, and in line with examination board and regulatory requirements. This is a varied and rewarding role that would suit someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and takes pride in attention to detail.
The Role:
- Lead the administration of all internal and external examinations
- Manage examination entries, timetables, results, and post‑results services
- Ensure compliance with JCQ regulations and awarding body requirements
- Coordinate examination arrangements for students and staff
- Recruit, train, and manage a team of exam invigilators
- Work closely with teaching staff, students, parents, and external organisations
- Support access arrangements alongside the SEND department
- Maintain secure systems for examination papers, materials, and data
- Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently
Ideal Candidate:
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Excellent communication and time‑management abilities
- Able to work accurately and effectively under pressure
- Confident managing multiple deadlines and priorities
- Proactive, flexible, and solution‑focused approach
- Comfortable working with students, staff, and external agencies
- Experience in examinations administration beneficial but not essential
- Willingness to undertake training and professional development
Contract Details:
- Position: Exams Officer
- Location: Basingstoke
- Start Date: September
- Working Pattern: 37 hours per week
- Contract Type: Permanent, 40 weeks per year
- Pay Rate: £24,371 - £26,814 per annum (FTE £27,780 - £30,564)
- Setting: Secondary School
Experience, Training & Safeguarding:
- Previous administration experience desirable
- School or examinations experience beneficial but not essential
- Training can be provided for the right candidate
- Enhanced DBS required
- Safeguarding training can be provided
