Excavator Operative

Location: East Midlands/ Nationwide
Employment Type: Full Time

Carnell is looking for an experienced Excavator Operative to join our Technology & Infrastructure team, supporting highway and civil engineering projects across the UK. This role involves nationwide travel, working away from home, and occasional night and weekend working.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate 10 tonne and above tracked excavators safely and efficiently.
• Carry out excavation, drainage, trenching and reinstatement works.
• Undertake lifting operations in line with CPCS/NPORS requirements.
• Excavate safely around underground services.
• Complete daily plant checks and basic maintenance.
• Work to site drawings, specifications and safe systems of work.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety and quality on site.

Essential Requirements

• Current CPCS or NPORS card for 10T+ Tracked Excavator with Lifting Operations.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Proven experience operating tracked excavators on construction, highways or civil engineering projects.
• Good understanding of safe excavation practices.
• Willingness to travel and work away from home when required.
• Highways or National Highways experience.

Desirable

• Cat & Genny.
• First Aid.
• Additional plant tickets (Dumper, Roller, Telehandler).
