The Supply Register is delighted to be recruiting SEND Learning Support Workers on behalf of the Newcastle College Group (NCG). We are recruiting to support learners across Lewisham College, Southwark College, and The Higher Education Centre.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support students aged 16–25 with a range of additional and complex learning needs, helping them to access education, build confidence, and develop greater independence.

No two days are the same, making this an ideal role for someone who is adaptable, compassionate, and committed to improving the lives of young people.

The Role

As a SEND Learning Support Worker, you will work closely with students who require additional support throughout their college day. You will provide personalised assistance both inside and outside the classroom, encouraging independence while ensuring each learner can participate fully in their education.

Support requirements will vary depending on the individual student and the campus you are working at, meaning flexibility and a person-centred approach are essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEND.
  • Assist students to access learning across a range of subjects.
  • Promote independence, confidence, and personal development.
  • Support students with personal care where required.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students and staff.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and the wider support team.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
About You

We're looking for individuals who are:

  • Compassionate, patient, and caring.
  • Positive, proactive, and adaptable.
  • Passionate about supporting young people with additional needs.
  • Confident working with students who have complex learning needs.
  • Comfortable providing personal care when required.
  • Reliable, flexible, and able to work as part of a team.
Experience

We welcome applications from candidates with experience in:

  • SEND or SEN schools.
  • Further Education or Higher Education settings.
  • Colleges or educational environments.
  • Care, support work, or healthcare.
  • Youth work or community support.

Experience with British Sign Language (BSL) or Makaton would be highly advantageous but is not essential.

Role Details

Locations:

  • Lewisham College
  • Southwark College
  • The Higher Education Centre

Working Hours: 9:00am – 4:00pm

Working Pattern: Typically 4–5 days per week

Student Age Range: 16–25 years

Personal Care: Required as part of this role

Please note that working patterns, student timetables, and support requirements may vary depending on the campus and individual learner.

Salary
  • Expected working hours: 26–35 hours per week, depending on student timetables and support requirements.
  • Pay rate: £114-£129 a day.
