I am recruiting on behalf of a number of mainstream secondary schools across Bristol seeking experienced Behaviour Mentors, Learning Support Assistants and Student Support Workers to join their teams.
These roles are ideal for individuals who have previous experience working with young people and can build strong relationships, provide consistent support, and help students overcome barriers to learning.
Many of the students you will support are bright and capable but may require additional guidance due to behavioural, emotional, social or educational challenges.
✅ About the RoleAs a Behaviour Mentor / Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping students access education successfully.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support
- Supporting students with SEMH, SEND or behavioural needs
- Helping learners remain engaged and focused in lessons
- Delivering targeted interventions and mentoring sessions
- Using positive behaviour strategies to encourage progress
- Supporting students during unstructured times throughout the school day
- Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams
- Acting as a positive adult role model for young people
You may work with students who:
- Have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Have additional learning needs such as ADHD or Autism
- Experience difficulties with behaviour regulation
- Are at risk of disengaging from education
- Require additional pastoral support and mentoring
- Need support managing emotions, friendships and confidence

To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Previous experience working with children or young people
- Experience supporting challenging behaviour, SEMH or SEND needs
- Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
- A calm, patient and resilient approach
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team
- A genuine passion for supporting young people
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is desirable, although support can be provided to obtain one.
