Location: Dartford

- Monday to Friday 8am - 5pm
Role Overview
We are seeking a Building Services Operative / Fabric Engineer to join an on-site team within a busy retail environment. The role focuses on planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and general building fabric duties, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance as directed by the Contract Manager
- Perform fault finding, testing, repairs, and preventative maintenance across building fabric and associated systems
- Complete a range of non-specialist tasks, including general fabric maintenance
- Update and close PPM tasks using the site’s computerised maintenance system
- Maintain high engineering standards to optimise performance and reliability
- Coordinate specialist subcontractors for both planned and reactive works
- Ensure compliance with site procedures, quality standards, and health & safety regulations
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all site activities
- Inspect services proactively and respond to repairs and callouts
- Work in plantroom environments and at height using ladders and platforms (PPE provided)
- Maintain company tools in safe, serviceable condition
- Support the ongoing success of the contract with a proactive and positive approach
- Complete any additional tasks as requested by management
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in painting, light joinery, and basic plumbing works
- Previous experience working within a maintenance team
- Ability to adapt technical skills within a fast-paced retail environment
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Sound understanding of workplace health & safety
- Experience working with safe systems of work permits
