Our client, ISS, seeking a Fabric Technician to complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive fabric maintenance tasks safely, accurately and within agreed priorities.
The successful candidate will diagnose faults effectively, maintain accurate records, and ensure assets are left safe, operational and correctly recorded following attendance.
Job Description
We are looking for a customer-focused professional with practical experience in commercial building fabric repairs, minor works and planned maintenance.
You will demonstrate strong communication skills, maintain high standards of housekeeping, and work within approved safety procedures and controls at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete planned and reactive fabric maintenance tasks across building assets.
- Carry out repairs to doors, ironmongery, partitions, ceilings, flooring, finishes and minor external building elements.
- Undertake minor carpentry, patch repairs, making good, basic plumbing support and general building maintenance within your competence.
- Inspect building fabric and identify deterioration, water ingress, damage or safety defects.
- Diagnose faults accurately and escalate residual risks or specialist requirements in a timely manner.
- Maintain safe access routes, fixtures and work areas, ensuring locations are left clean, secure and serviceable.
- Follow approved risk assessments, method statements, permits, isolation procedures and COSHH controls.
- Maintain accurate work reports, asset records, test results, parts usage and follow-on actions within designated systems.
- Support contractor control activities by checking competence, monitoring work quality and reporting non-conformance.
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
- Practical experience of commercial building fabric repairs, minor works and planned maintenance.
- Competence in the safe use of hand tools and portable power tools.
- Working knowledge of risk assessments, method statements, COSHH and permit controls.
- Ability to recognise the limits of own competence and escalate specialist electrical, gas, pressure-system or structural work.
- Strong customer-focused communication skills.
- Excellent housekeeping standards and accurate record-keeping.
- Level 2 qualification in a relevant trade, building maintenance, plumbing, mechanical services or a comparable discipline, or demonstrable time-served multi-trade experience.
- IPAF and/or PASMA certification.
