About HMP Stocken


HMP Stocken is a Category C men's prison located near Oakham, Rutland. The site offers a stable working environment with a strong focus on safety, teamwork, and maintaining critical infrastructure.
You'll receive a comprehensive induction, ongoing support, and access to the tools and materials needed to carry out your role effectively.



The Role


As a Maintenance Plumber, you'll be responsible for delivering both planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across the site's plumbing and water systems.



Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine and reactive plumbing maintenance
  • Diagnose faults and undertake repairs to plumbing systems and associated equipment
  • Maintain and repair mains water supply systems
  • Conduct inspections, water sampling, and compliance checks
  • Identify and report life-expired equipment
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with statutory regulations
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
  • Support the wider facilities management team as required


What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements

  • NVQ Level 2 in Plumbing & Heating (or equivalent)
  • Previous experience in plumbing maintenance
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Experience working within a commercial, industrial, facilities management, or similar environment
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills


Desirable

  • Legionella awareness and water hygiene knowledge
  • Experience working within regulated or secure environments

Working Hours

  • 39 hours per week
  • 1 in 3 weekend rota
  • Weekend working attracts an additional 15% allowance on basic salary


Security Clearance


Due to the nature of this role, successful applicants will be required to undergo Prison Security Clearance. Full support will be provided throughout the vetting process.
