About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive School Facilities Manager (Caretaker) to help ensure our school remains a safe, secure, clean, and well-maintained environment for students, staff, and visitors. This is a varied and rewarding role that is essential to the smooth day-to-day operation of the school.
The successful candidate will take pride in maintaining high standards across the site, working closely with the Site Manager to support the effective management of the school premises.
Key Responsibilities Site Security and Access
- Open and close the school premises in accordance with the agreed shift pattern.
- Act as a key holder and respond to emergency call-outs when required.
- Ensure the security of buildings, grounds, and equipment at all times.
- Carry out regular site checks and report any security concerns promptly.
Facilities and Maintenance
- Undertake basic maintenance, repairs, and general caretaking duties.
- Ensure the school grounds and buildings are kept clean, safe, and presentable.
- Carry out routine tasks such as litter picking, minor repairs, and site inspections.
- Identify and report maintenance issues requiring specialist attention.
Health and Safety
- Support compliance with health and safety regulations and school procedures.
- Assist in maintaining a safe environment for students, staff, and visitors.
- Report hazards, defects, and potential risks in a timely manner.
Contractor and Visitor Management
- Liaise with contractors, service providers, and delivery personnel.
- Monitor contractor activities to ensure site procedures and safety requirements are followed.
- Assist with deliveries and the movement of equipment and supplies around the site.

Desirable
- Previous experience in a caretaking, facilities, maintenance, or similar role.
- Experience working within a school or educational setting.
