We have an excellent opportunity for a Fabric Engineer to join a market-leading facilities management company at a high-quality commercial site based in Hackney, East London.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Fabric Engineer looking to work in a professional environment, become part of an established M&E team, and develop their career within a growing organisation.
The role is site-based, working a standard 37.5-hour Monday to Friday week, with overtime available.
Fabric Engineer Duties As a Fabric Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across the site, ensuring the building remains safe, functional and well maintained.
Duties:
- Delivering Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks and routine inspections.
- Responding to reactive fabric maintenance issues and resolving faults efficiently.
- Carrying out daily site walkarounds and identifying defects or maintenance requirements.
- Completing general fabric works, including:
- Carpentry repairs to doors, hinges, locks, skirting and architraves.
- Patch plastering and plasterboard repairs.
- Painting and decorating.
- Basic plumbing, including tap replacements, minor leaks and unblocking.
- Minor electrical fabric support, such as lamp changes and socket faceplate replacements.
- Carrying out fire door inspections, adjustments and minor repairs.
- Completing minor tiling and flooring repairs.
- Carrying out sealant, mastic, gap filling and general aesthetic repairs.
- Replacing ceiling tiles and investigating minor leaks within suspended ceilings.
- Updating site logbooks and maintenance records.
- Liaising with contractors and assisting with contractor management when required.
- Supporting the wider M&E maintenance team with general site requirements.
- Maintaining a high standard of customer service and presentation throughout the site.
- Previous experience working as a Fabric Engineer, Fabric Technician, Maintenance Engineer or Building Fabric Technician within a commercial environment.
- Strong all-round building fabric skills.
- Good carpentry, basic plumbing and decorating experience.
- Experience carrying out minor building repairs and general maintenance.
- Knowledge of fire doors and basic compliance requirements would be advantageous.
- The ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- A professional approach with strong attention to detail.
- The ability to diagnose problems and complete repairs efficiently.
- £30,000 – £33,000 per annum
- 37.5 hours per week
