Location: Princess Royal University Hospital, Orpington, BR6 8ND
Salary: £30,675 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm

Purpose of the Role
As a Facilities Technician, you will provide operational and administrative support to the Facilities Management team and client stakeholders. Acting as a key point of contact, you will coordinate maintenance activities, support service delivery, and help ensure that facilities services are delivered efficiently, safely, and to agreed performance standards.
Job Description
Working within a busy hospital environment, you will be responsible for coordinating planned and reactive maintenance activities, liaising with engineers and contractors, and supporting the smooth delivery of facilities services. You will manage work requests through a facilities management system, monitor progress against service targets, and maintain accurate records and reporting.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys communication, organisation, and problem solving. You'll work closely with colleagues, contractors, and client stakeholders while contributing to continuous improvements that enhance service quality and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, contractors, visitors, and internal teams.
- Answer calls and respond to customer enquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Assign, track, and update planned and reactive maintenance work orders using the facilities management system.
- Coordinate engineers and contractors to ensure work is completed within agreed service levels.
- Escalate urgent, overdue, or high-priority issues to the Facilities Management team.
- Maintain accurate records across facilities and contract management systems.
- Produce regular and ad hoc reports for management and client stakeholders.
- Monitor performance against SLAs, KPIs, and outstanding work activities.
- Manage shared inboxes and ensure communications are actioned appropriately.
- Support administration activities for employees, contractors, and visitors.
Essential Qualifications / Skills
- Experience within a helpdesk, reception, customer service, or administrative environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service skills and a professional approach.
- Confident using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams.
- Good general IT skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Experience maintaining accurate records and administrative documentation.
- Ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience using CAFM software or similar management systems would be advantageous.
