FACTORY MANAGER – METALWORK & FABRICATION

Colchester, Essex

💷 £60,000–£70,000 DOE

Shero Talent Consultancy is recruiting an experienced, hands-on Factory Manager for an established architectural and sheet-metal fabrication company based in Earls Colne.

Operating from a factory of approximately 25,000 sq. ft. and turning over around £10 million, this is a key leadership position responsible for managing a team of approximately 15–20 skilled fabricators and welders.

Key responsibilities:

• Managing the day-to-day operation of the factory
• Leading, organising and motivating the fabrication team
• Planning production schedules and preparing upcoming work
• Ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently and on time
• Reading and interpreting technical drawings
• Monitoring workmanship and completing quality checks
• Allocating labour, materials and equipment effectively
• Coordinating transport, deliveries and collections
• Maintaining high standards of health and safety
• Working closely with senior management and project teams
• Identifying and resolving production issues before they cause delays

The ideal candidate will have:

• A minimum of 5–10 years’ experience managing a sizeable factory or fabrication operation
• A strong background in architectural metalwork, sheet metal, mild steel, welding or fabrication
• Previous experience managing teams of fabricators and welders
• Excellent production-planning and organisational skills
• The ability to understand technical and fabrication drawings
• Strong knowledge of quality control and factory processes
• A hands-on, committed and dependable management style
• Flexibility to work additional hours or occasional weekends when projects require it

Typical working hours are approximately 7:00am–4:00pm/5:00pm, with an expectation of around 50 hours per week.
