The Role
Factory Yardman – Stone Worktops
My client are looking for a reliable and hardworking Factory Yardman to join their busy stone manufacturing team.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day operation of our yard, ensuring stone slabs and materials are safely stored, moved, and prepared for production. This is a hands-on role requiring excellent organisational skills and a strong commitment to health and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely unload, move, and store stone slabs and materials within the yard and factory.
- Load materials for production and customer collections.
- Maintain accurate stock control and inventory of stone slabs and consumables.
- Carry out regular stock checks and report any discrepancies.
- Ensure slabs are stored safely and correctly to prevent damage.
- Assist the production team by preparing materials for fabrication.
- Keep the yard and storage areas clean, organised, and safe at all times.
- Operate forklifts and other lifting equipment in accordance with company procedures.
- Assist with deliveries and general yard duties as required.
Essential Requirements
- Experience moving and handling heavy materials safely.
- Strong understanding of stock control and inventory management.
- Valid Forklift Truck (FLT) Licence.
- Good awareness of Health & Safety procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, organised, and physically fit for a manual role.
Desirable
- Experience using overhead cranes or vacuum lifting equipment.
- Experience working in a manufacturing, warehouse, or yard environment.
- Experience within the stone industry.
- Basic computer skills for stock management systems.
Working Hours
Working hours will be discussed at interview and will be based on the needs of the business. Flexibility is essential, as the role may require occasional overtime and weekend working to meet production demands and delivery schedules.
