A leading law firm is seeking a Family Paralegal to join its highly regarded Family department in Milton Keynes. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated legal professional to develop their experience within a busy and supportive team handling a broad range of family matters.
The successful Family Paralegal will support solicitors across LAA-funded and private client matters, gaining hands-on exposure to case preparation, client contact, advocacy and court proceedings.
The Family Paralegal's Role
- Assisting solicitors with a broad range of Family Law matters
- Supporting LAA-funded and private client cases
- Attending clients, taking instructions and preparing cases
- Drafting correspondence, witness statements and other legal documents
- Preparing and managing Legal Aid funding applications
- Processing and reviewing evidence
- Attending conferences and court hearings
- Undertaking advocacy where appropriate
- Maintaining accurate case records and time costing
- Assisting with file reviews and implementing recommendations
- Ensuring compliance with firm procedures and file management requirements
- Liaising with clients and other parties throughout matters
The Family Paralegal
- Law degree or equivalent legal qualification
- Previous experience within Family Law or a strong demonstrable interest in the area
- Good understanding of Family Law principles
- Strong academic background
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong client care skills and a sensitive, professional approach
- Excellent organisational and analytical abilities
- Ability to work independently and use initiative
- Strong attention to detail
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
- Self-motivated, proactive and commercially aware
- Ability to work effectively within a team and manage competing priorities
