A leading law firm is seeking a Family Paralegal to join its highly regarded Family department in Milton Keynes. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated legal professional to develop their experience within a busy and supportive team handling a broad range of family matters.

The successful Family Paralegal will support solicitors across LAA-funded and private client matters, gaining hands-on exposure to case preparation, client contact, advocacy and court proceedings.



The Family Paralegal's Role

  • Assisting solicitors with a broad range of Family Law matters
  • Supporting LAA-funded and private client cases
  • Attending clients, taking instructions and preparing cases
  • Drafting correspondence, witness statements and other legal documents
  • Preparing and managing Legal Aid funding applications
  • Processing and reviewing evidence
  • Attending conferences and court hearings
  • Undertaking advocacy where appropriate
  • Maintaining accurate case records and time costing
  • Assisting with file reviews and implementing recommendations
  • Ensuring compliance with firm procedures and file management requirements
  • Liaising with clients and other parties throughout matters


The Family Paralegal

  • Law degree or equivalent legal qualification
  • Previous experience within Family Law or a strong demonstrable interest in the area
  • Good understanding of Family Law principles
  • Strong academic background
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong client care skills and a sensitive, professional approach
  • Excellent organisational and analytical abilities
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Self-motivated, proactive and commercially aware
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and manage competing priorities
